Would you like to decrease your dependency on glasses or contact lenses? This is now an option with the use of premium lifestyle lens implants. Individuals suffering from cataracts previously had only a monofocal lens implant option after surgery. NEW multifocal IOL technology provides multiple ranges of vision: near, intermediate and far, giving you the opportunity to reduce or even eliminate your dependency on glasses!

Did you know there is now advanced testing available for diagnosing macular degeneration? Macular Risk® is a DNA test that identifies genetic markers associated with Macular Degeneration. By analyzing these genetic markers along with smoking history, we can identify who needs more frequent eye examinations and who may benefit from eye vitamins.

The state of the art medical facilities of the Kaufman Eye Institute are among the most technologically advanced ophthalmology practices in the Tampa Area. Comprehensive eye examinations are done for both adults and children.
Some examples of the types of examinations Dr. Kaufman and the physicians of Kaufman Eye Institute perform are comprehensive cataract evaluations, which include potential acuity measurements, automated computerized A-scan (eye length measurement that predicts lens power) and evaluations using ultrasound (B-scan) to image the eye and detect problems that ordinary viewing methods are simply not able to detect. The Kaufman Eye Institute also enjoys the distinction of having a retinal vascular center in which digital fluorescien angiography is performed with the most advanced digital Zeiss system available. This critical state of the art equipment enables early detection and treatment of numerous eye disorders. As a result, potentially sight threatening diseases can be accurately evaluated.

Glaucoma and neurological problems can be quickly detected using computerized Humphrey visual fields. This new and improved method of measuring a patient's visual field actually takes a third of the time of older instruments and is significantly more accurate in diagnosing eye disorders. Ocular coherence tomography can actually section the retina and optic nerve tissue giving unprecedented images and allows for early diagnosis and better medical and surgical treatment options.

Numerous in office procedures are performed on site including cosmetic lid surgery, laser surgery for glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes of the eye, and after cataract membranes (YAG Laser).
Dr. Kaufman and the physicians of the Kaufman Eye Institute bring the most advanced and proven surgical techniques to their patients including Insta-Sight™ cataract surgery. This is the most advanced method of cataract removal requiring no needles, no stitches, no patches or no injections. As a result, most patients see instantly after this procedure and are able to return immediately to most of their regular activities. Dr. Kaufman has performed over 25,000 Insta-Sight™ surgeries, over 35,000 cataract surgeries and over 70,000 surgeries.
